SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free is celebrating the exclusive online store debut of Japanese premium sake brand Dassai Mirai with a fundraising campaign which runs from today (1 August) until 31 December.
A donation ceremony will be attended by representatives from Lotte Duty Free, Dassai’s brand owner Asahi Shuzo and domestic supplier Samkyung Retail.
A US$6 donation from every purchase of Dassai Mirai, which was launched on 18 July, will be used for the development of farming and fishing villages in South Korea.
Lotte Duty Free is the first retailer in the country to have listed Dassai online.
Other Dassai expressions available online with Lotte Duty Free include Dassai Beyond and the popular Dassai 23, which are sold at prices comparable to those in Japan.
The sake brand has become increasingly popular among Korean consumers, accounting for 95% of its sales. It now ranks in Lotte Duty Free’s monthly top ten liquor brands.
Dassai Mirai is a premium sake with a milling ratio of 8%, made by polishing 92% of the rice to ensure the best quality.
A Lotte Duty Free spokesperson said: “We are deeply moved by this campaign, which introduces good products to more customers and at the same time contributes to the development of domestic rural areas.
“Lotte Duty Free will continue to provide better products and benefits to customers. We will also extend a helping hand to those in need through cooperation with various stakeholders.”
As reported, the company recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Small Business Distribution Center to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in expanding their sales channels.
Over 400 SMEs have applied for the programme but only 50 will be selected to feature within Lotte Duty Free’s online and offline channels. ✈
