Images of the Day: Lindt Captains take flight at Zurich Airport with Napolitains range

Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Strange Nature Gin from New Zealand, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

SWITZERLAND. Today’s selection comes from Lindt & Sprüngli, which has tapped into a ‘sweet opportunity’ in travel retail with its exclusive Napolitains Captain Cocoa and Captain Skyla range.

The photographs take us to Zurich Airport where the Swiss chocolatier has unveiled a supporting activation in collaboration with Avolta-run Zürich Duty Free.

The tagline ‘Travel the World with the Lindt Captains’ is highlighted across the pop-up, inviting young passengers for a photo opportunity.

The set-up includes a cartoon-style vintage biplane being flown by the two pilots, while the backdrop features travel-themed paraphernalia, including a passport and suitcase.

The animation also features colourful illustrations of world landmarks, including Big Ben, Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal and the Golden Gate Bridge among others.

Lindt & Sprüngli Head of Global Travel Retail Peter Zehnder noted on LinkedIn: “Our recent launch at Zurich Airport not only brought our vision to life but also spurred growth in the confectionery category.

“Thanks to our Lindt Polaris research, we know that 43% of chocolate ‘recharge’ moments are shared with children. With that insight, we crafted a range that meets the high-quality standards of adults while captivating the entire family, all in travel-friendly packaging.

“The result? Vibrant retail activations and a boost for the entire industry, not just our market share. Proud to lead and innovate for the benefit of all chocolate lovers, enchanting the world with chocolate.”
