Luxury beauty house Guerlain, part of LVMH Group, has expanded its Abeille Royale skincare line with the Honey Treatment Rich Cream and Care-in-Mousse. They are now available in selected Guerlain stores in global travel retail.
The products are designed to support the skin’s natural repair processes and offer anti-ageing benefits. They leverage Guerlain’s over ten years of research into the reparative properties of honey.
Made up of 93% natural-origin ingredients, the Abeille Royale Honey Treatment Rich Cream is formulated for dry to very dry skin and for those that have undergone dermocosmetics procedures.
It features Guerlain’s Dynamic Blackbee Repair technology, which combines Black Bee honey from Ouessant Island with other natural honeys from Corsica in France, Ikaria in Greece and Åland in Finland. These honeys are produced using sustainable beekeeping practices that prioritise the wellbeing of bees and the preservation of biodiversity in these protected island environments.
The formula has lipid-replenishing properties which enhance the skin’s repair mechanisms, with studies showing a +47% increase in repair efficacy within 24 hours. It has also been infused with nutrient-rich royal jelly and beeswax butter that locks in moisture, creating an optimal environment for skin repair.
The cream targets four visible signs of collagen loss: firmness, wrinkles, radiance and smoothness. Clinical tests have shown significant improvements in the skin, including a +43% increase in radiance and a +32% improvement in skin smoothness after one month of use.
Additionally, the cream has been shown to enhance the outcomes of dermocosmetics treatments, with an -88% reduction in deep wrinkles and a +150% improvement in skin texture based on clinical tests.
The Honey Treatment Rich Cream comes in a redesigned sustainable refillable jar made with 20-40% recycled glass and 17% lighter than its predecessor. Additionally, the outer packaging is crafted from FSC-certified cardboard.
The Abeille Royale Care-in-Mousse is a cleansing foam that serves as the initial step in the Abeille Royale skincare routine. Composed of 90% naturally derived ingredients, this mousse is also enriched with Dynamic Blackbee Repair technology, ensuring that it not only cleanses but also supports and strengthens the skin barrier.
It is particularly effective in maintaining skin hydration and comfort, even in hard water conditions, with 96% of users reporting a reinforced skin barrier after one week of use. ✈
How ‘honey bandages’ inspired Abeille RoyaleOver a decade ago, Guerlain’s research team explored the potential of honey in tissue reconstruction, discovering parallels between wound healing and the repair of visible signs of ageing. This finding was supported by the extensive clinical studies of Professor Descottes, Head of the Visceral Surgery and Transplantation Department at Limoges Teaching Hospital. Descottes demonstrated the effectiveness of honey bandages on over 3,000 patients with wounds resistant to conventional treatments, particularly in promoting collagen fibre repair. This innovative approach led to the development of the Abeille Royale line, which blends traditional remedies with modern science, featuring Black Bee honey from Ouessant Island as a key active ingredient. |
