It is with the deepest sorrow that we report the passing of former Mondelez World Travel Retail (WTR) Managing Director Andreas Fehr, an outstanding contributor to the travel retail sector and food & confectionery world over many years.
Andreas, who retired in 2018, passed on 31 August at the age of 67 after a long illness borne with great patience.
He will be much missed by his immediate family, wife Patricia, Nadja Wickart and Sahel; Tobias Fehr and Mirjam Fabris; Larissa and Tobias Reichgruber-Fehr and Amelie and Bo.
They are joined in loss by Andreas’ mother Paulette and close family Richard and Anne-Christine Fehr; Geraldine Fehr and Felipe Ferro; Aniko Fehr and Antoine Ducry with Charlie, alongside Dominique Kellenberger and Nicolas Rey and their families.
Jaya Singh, who took over the Mondelez World Travel Retail (WTR) leadership role from Andreas in 2018, told The Moodie Davitt Report today: “Andreas was more than just my boss. He and another industry legend Markus Gerber hired me more than 27 years ago.
“I feel a deep sense of loss, a hole in my heart that I cannot find the words to describe. A true gentleman, genuine and warm hearted and caring to the core. I miss and will continue to miss him.
“We became more than colleagues. Friends. He was a real human being. A rare person whom I’m honoured to have spent 27 years of my life with. We are who we are today because of people like him. Rare.”
The Moodie Davitt Report joins the travel retail community in expressing our deepest condolences to Andreas’ family.
A service will take place on 11 September at 14.30 at Cham Church.
Condolence address: Patricia Fehr, Im Rebstock 5, 6332 Hagendorn.
Rather than flowers, the family suggests donations to the hospice that cared for Andreas in his name at: Stiftung Hospiz Zentralschweiz, IBAN CH34 0077 8207 4640 0200 1
Martin Moodie writes: In March 2018, upon news of Andreas’ retirement, I wrote a Blog that outlined the admiration I, like so many others, felt for this fine man. I called it Saying ‘Fehrwell’ to a travel retail champion, which Andreas, a man of gentle good humour, rather liked.
That Blog seems more relevant than ever, only to be rendered with great poignancy. I cannot add much more here, other than to join so many others in being grateful for having known Andreas and expressing my deepest condolences to his family.
He told me his top priorities were spending more quality time with his growing family as a triple grandfather; working on his ‘lousy’ golf handicap, and to indulge in other hobbies. It was time, he said, to attend to his bucket list.
Perhaps many of us will stop to reconsider priorities upon reading that, especially as this time we bid a true farewell to this kind, good and, indeed, rare human being.
Note: This story will be posted on The Moodie Davitt Report LinkedIn platform. If you wish to add a tribute, please do so there and we will forward in time to Andreas’ family.
