Lotte Duty Free partners with Walt Disney to unveil Pixar-themed pop-up at Now in Myeong-dong

SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free has teamed up with The Walt Disney Company Korea and its official merchandise store S’more Market to unveil a themed pop-up at the travel retailer’s Now in Myeong-dong experiential duty-free shopping showroom in Seoul.

The immersive retail space, open until 10 December, showcases popular characters from Disney/Pixar animated films including Toy Story, Inside Out and Monsters, Inc.

Shoppers can explore over 1,000 Disney/Pixar-themed merchandise, including posters, dolls and Mediheal special edition mask packs and pads featuring the popular characters.

The pop-up store is themed around Disney/Pixar’s fluffy furball characters such as ‘Lotso’ and ‘Buttercup’ from Toy Story 3, and ‘Bing Bong’ from Inside Out.

Lotte Duty Free has added other retailtainment elements such as photo zones and life-size character displays throughout the store, as well as rest areas.

To celebrate the opening, the retailer has introduced a variety of promotional activities, including a roulette event, offering participants a chance to win prizes. Shoppers are also invited to craft keychains using parts of the featured characters.

In addition, customers can receive shopping rewards that can be used at Lotte Duty Free’s Myeongdong flagship location, and enjoy discounts on Disney/Pixar purchases.

From 1 October to 10 December, all Q-Pocket products featuring Disney/Pixar characters will be sold at a -30% discount.

A Lotte Duty Free spokesperson said: “We are very honoured to be able to present Disney/Pixar character products loved worldwide to customers visiting Myeong-dong through our collaboration with Disney Korea.

“We will continue to take the lead in activating pop-up stores so that customers can have differentiated experiences at Lotte Duty Free Now in Myeong-dong.”

Now in Myeong-dong’s visual identity is inspired by street signages from the popular commercial district in Seoul (home since 1980 to Lotte Duty Free’s flagship store). The store logo features English and Chinese characters as the retailer strives to make Now in Myeong-dong a tourist landmark.

Popular recent events included the ‘Cheoreom X Krush Somaek pocha’ pop-up concept, attracting more than 1,500 daily visitors. The pop-up, which ran from 23 August until 18 September, was a collaboration between Lotte Duty Free and sister company Lotte Chilsung Beverage Co.
