FRANCE. Lagardère Travel Retail has opened bakery concept Poulaillon at Basel Mulhouse Freiburg Airport, the second launch in its new food & beverage programme there.
As reported, earlier this year the French travel retailer won a six-year to operate six new F&B venues at the airport.
Poulaillon occupies a 200sq m departures hall airside space and has more than 30 seats.
The business is a partnership with French family business Poulaillon, which operates 63 bakery stores across France. It is the brand’s first airport location.

Local cuisine options dominate the menu, with assortments of French viennoiseries, pastries, macaroons, and sweet and savoury sandwiches using the brand’s renowned Moricette (bread made from pretzel dough, originally from Mulhouse). Hot meals are also available.
The venue features a bar serving beverages including several beers on tap.
The Poulaillon unveiling follows soon after Lagardère Travel Retail’s opening of the Bottega Prosecco Bar & Caffè at the airport.
Lagardère Travel Retail Director General Vincent Romet told The Moodie Davitt Report: “As part of the tender won this summer at Basel Mulhouse Airport, we are proud to open the first two restaurants out of a total of six planned.
“With Poulaillon and Bottega, we are expanding our portfolio of partner brands by introducing new concepts that reflect our commitment to providing travellers with high-quality dining experiences, combining local products, culinary innovation and immersive experiences.
“These openings highlight the dynamism of the airport dining sector, a field in which Lagardère Travel Retail France continues to assert its position as a key player.”
Basel Mulhouse Freiburg Airport, which is situated in Saint-Louis, France and lies 4.7km west of the France, Germany and Switzerland tripoint, serves around 9 million passengers annually and 100 scheduled flights daily.
