INTERNATIONAL. Here’s your latest chance of 2025 to win a great prize in our Strange Predictions* contest hosted by Strange Nature Gin of New Zealand.

This weekend we are turning our attention to The Rugby Championship, the annual tournament contested by the Southern hemisphere men’s national teams of Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, better known respectively as the Pumas, the Wallabies, the All Blacks and the Springboks.

After two rounds of the competition, each team has won one match, the Pumas and the All Blacks having shared their two-match series in Argentina as did the Springboks and the Wallabies in South Africa.

The All Blacks vs Springboks match this Saturday has more spice than the famed Khari Baoli in Delhi, India. The game is being played at Eden Park in Auckland, where the New Zealand side has not lost since – believe it or not – July 1994. And if there’s one team above all others determined to break that hoodoo (and eminently capable of doing so) it’s the Springboks, Champions at the last two Rugby World Cups.

We’re asking travel retail and aviation pundits to pick the score of that tasty match-up as well as the equally intriguing Wallabies vs Pumas game in Townsville, Queensland, Australia earlier in the day.

As with all our Strange Predictions competitions, the winner will receive a bottle of the outstanding Strange Nature Gin, whose spirit base is drawn from Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Strange indeed.

As reported, Strange Nature was recently named one of the ten 2024 Gins of the Year at the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition.

Here are the prediction challenges:

  • Pick the winner of each match (or a draw): All Blacks vs Springboks; Wallabies vs Pumas
  • Pick the scoreline for each match
  • Tell us which island in New Zealand Strange Nature comes from.

Rules:

    • Only entries from bona-fide members of the travel retail and aviation community will be accepted.
    • The winner will be judged first on correctly predicting the result (win/loss/draw) in each match after which those qualifying will be assessed on cumulative points differential for each game. So if, say, the All Blacks beat the Springboks 17-15 and you predicted the men in black to win 30-18 you would have a points differential of 16. The lower the total differential across both matches the better.
    • Only entries from bona-fide members of the travel retail and aviation community will be accepted.
    • Judge’s decision is final.

Strange Predictions

Strange Nature, the quirky super-premium New Zealand gin from Marlborough, which has gained impressive traction in travel retail and selected local markets since its launch in October 2021, is partnering with The Moodie Davitt Report in a pioneering readers’ competition called Strange Predictions.

The year-round programme features a series of predictive contests designed to test readers’ punditry skills across a myriad of events, ranging from sporting contests to political elections and other intriguing – and sometimes strange – events.

Strange Nature General Manager – Owner Rhys Julian said: “At Strange Nature we like to embrace the strange.  We consider our gin to be stranger than most, considering its grape origins, one botanical as well as sustainability and traceability credentials.

“Therefore, in fitting with the brand we thought partnering with The Moodie Davitt Report’s Strange Predictions was a perfect fit. A fun competition for everyone, slightly left of centre, is very much our vibe.”
