BRAZIL. Fraport Brasil has been awarded the concession to operate Jericoacoara Airport (JJD) in the country’s northeastern region, and is set to take over operations in autumn 2026.
Building on its established presence in Fortaleza, the Fraport AG-owned company has secured a new concession under Brazil’s AmpliAR programme, which integrates regional airports into existing concessions.

The Jericoacoara Airport concession is scheduled to be formally signed in spring 2026, pending final approvals, and will become part of the existing Fortaleza Airport concession, with the agreement running until its current expiry in 2047.
Following these developments, Fraport Brasil SA Aeroporto will oversee operations at both airports in the Brazilian state of Ceará.
Under the concession, Fraport Brasil will operate the passenger terminal as well as landside and airside facilities, including retail and parking areas.

The company has committed to investing in infrastructure upgrades for Jericoacoara Airport during its first three years of operations.
Fraport CEO Dr Stefan Schulte said, “We’re pleased to expand our involvement in Brazil and work with our experienced team to help actively drive the development of Jericoacoara Airport and promote tourism in Ceará.”
Jericoacoara Airport recorded approximately 212,000 passengers in 2024, gateway to one of Brazil’s most visited regions, known for its expansive beaches, dune landscapes, scenic lagoons and national parks.
Fraport AG has been operating in Brazil since 2017, overseeing Fortaleza and Porto Alegre airports through two separate concessions. The company has since driven modernisation and long-term development at both airports. ✈
