PORTUGAL. Portugal Duty Free has launched a Happy Charity Puppets campaign in partnership with Portuguese non-profit organisation Terra dos Sonhos to support children with chronic or terminal illness.
Special finger puppets have been created for each of the retailer’s five location-specific signature mascots – Duarte (Lisbon), Diana (Faro), Diogo (Porto), Dinis (Madeira) and Dora (Azores).

The puppets are made from fully recycled materials and finished by hand, reusing plastic and saving water and energy as part of Portugal Duty Free’s ESG commitments. The Happy Charity Puppets (five-pack) retails at €20.99, with proceeds going to Terra dos Sonhos to grant the special wishes of sick children.
They are sold in Portugal Duty Free airport stores at Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Madeira and the Azores, and online at portugaldutyfree.com.

ARI said it was “delivering joy in a very special way” with the campaign to aid the work of Terra dos Sonhos, which promotes the well-being of children, young people and adults in vulnerable situations.
To mark International Volunteer Day from 1 to 5 December, Portugal Duty Free colleagues had the opportunity to volunteer one hour out of their working day to spend in-store promoting the Happy Charity Puppets, giving team members across all areas of the business the chance to become involved in the campaign.
Portugal Duty Free CEO Alain Brun said: “A child’s joy has the power to remind us of what really matters. The Happy Charity Puppets campaign is a project that touches us especially because it allows us to create special moments and unforgettable memories for children facing great challenges.
“At Portugal Duty Free, we are made up of people and we want to support the community, making a difference with concrete gestures that have a real impact on the lives of citizens. Our team welcomed this solidarity initiative with open arms, getting involved with enthusiasm, dedication and empathy, helping to raise awareness among passengers for this cause.
“Every Happy Charity Puppet sold and every gesture of support shows that solidarity and working together can transform lives. This is the spirit we want to maintain, cultivate and inspire in all our actions, reinforcing the positive impact we can generate together.”
“The partnership with Portugal Duty Free has been truly extraordinary, combining creativity with the power of dreams and allowing us, together, to turn dreams into reality and hope,” said Coordinator of the Sonhos Transformadores da Terra dos Sonhos project Filipa Silvestre.
“This solidarity campaign also reminds us of the driving force of volunteering in creating unique, magical and deeply human moments.” ✈
