“A legacy of excellence” – Changi Airport Group’s Chandra Mahtani set to retire from senior commercial role

SINGAPORE. Changi Airport Group (CAG) Senior Vice President of Airside Concessions Chandra Mahtani, a hugely respected figure in the airport commercial world, will retire from her role on 1 March after a distinguished 42-year career with the company.

Changi Airport Group Executive Vice President, Commercial Lim Peck Hoon shared a note with partners that highlighted Mahtani’s instrumental role “in shaping what Changi Airport’s retail experience is renowned for today”, saying she “played a pivotal role in many of our most defining retail milestones”.

The statement added, “In her time with us, Changi delivered numerous ‘firsts’ in global airport retail, securing pioneering concepts, nurturing local brands into global successes and building strong, enduring partnerships across the industry. During the unprecedented challenges of Covid-19, she worked shoulder to shoulder with our brand partners to ensure that Changi reopened with strength and momentum.

“Chandra leaves behind a legacy of excellence, resilience and mentorship that has touched countless colleagues and partners. We extend our deepest appreciation and wish her a fulfilling and joyful retirement.”

Ms. Hung Jean will continue in her existing role as Managing Director, overseeing Changi Airport’s overall Airside Concessions business and the wider commercial portfolio including ecommerce.

She in turn will be supported by General Manager Samantha Yuan, who will lead the Planning & Leasing team from 1 April. She too has a strong track record in key roles at Changi Airport, which began in the Airside Concessions team.

Lim concluded, “The CAG team remains committed to strengthening partnerships, driving innovation and delivering the world-class retail experience synonymous with Changi Airport.”
