INTERNATIONAL. New training initiatives have been launched by a team at Airports Council International (ACI) headquarters in Geneva led by ACI director Paul Behnke.
Partnership contracts to deliver the training have been negotiated by Mike Brown, senior advisor – business development at ACI headquarters and Pierre Coutu, senior advisor, training policy. ACI also announced that Philippe Baril has joined ACI as a senior advisor specifically for training activities. Baril has a wealth of experience as an airport director in several locations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
In partnership with the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) ACI will soon offer patented, interactive computer-based training (IET) programmes. Digital video, video-taped at each airport purchasing the system, will provide a customised programme. ACI and AAAE are holding a demonstration of the IET system on 17 March 2004 in Vienna.
At the request of the Latin America and Caribbean regional office, ACI is also organising a series of two-day courses covering various aspects of airport planning, management and operations during 2004. The first courses will run from 11-12 March in Miami.
ACI has also joined forces with IATA’s Aviation Training and Development Institute (ATDI) to offer high quality courses at IATA regional centres in Geneva, Miami, Montreal and Singapore. Some important ACI/IATA training courses in 2004 include: Airport Commercial Management (15-26 March in Miami and 10-21 May in Montreal); Airport Marketing (25-29 October in Miami), Airport Strategic Management (29 November-10 December in Singapore); Airport Advanced Business Management (9-13 August in Montreal); and Airport Planning (13-17 September in Montreal).
