Aena commercial revenues soar +19.4% in first quarter

SPAIN/INTERNATIONAL. Spanish airports operator Aena has reported a +19.4% year-on-year rise in commercial revenues for the first quarter to reach €402.2 million.

Total sales from commercial activities exceeded those recorded in 2023 by +15.8%, and fixed and variable rent revenue invoiced and collected in the period was +12.8% higher than the same period of the previous year.

Aena bills itself as the worlds leading airport operator, with involvement at 63 airports, including 48 in its home country of Spain

The overall commercial result is ahead of passenger growth, with Spanish airports serving 60.8 million passengers in Q1 (+13.2%). Across its full airport estate, the company’s passenger traffic (Spain, London-Luton, the airports of Northeast Brazil and the Block of Eleven Brazilian Airports) increased by +11.9% compared with the same period in 2023 to 74.6 million passengers.

Total Aena Q1 revenues reached €1.233 billion, up +20.1% on the first three months of 2023.

The company’s net profit in Q1 almost doubled to €261 million compared with €133.6 million in the same period last year.

In the first three months of 2024, Aena obtained a gross operating profit (EBITDA) of €581.1 million, with a margin of 47.1%. This figure represents growth of +57.7% compared with 2023. ✈
