GERMANY. Aïda, the historic Viennese café brand, has announced its Munich Airport pop-up – opened in spring 2024 with the airport’s F&B operator Allresto – has been extended for a third time following strong performance, on this occasion by a further year.
The 17sq m Terminal 2 airside unit was initially conceived as a one-year trial and will now remain in place until at least November 2026.

From its Munich Airport stall – the debut Aïda travel retail concept outside Austria – Aïda and Allresto offer more than 30 Viennese coffee specialities, savoury snacks and a remarkable 150+ types of pastries daily.
All products are handmade in Vienna, many with recipes which are more than a century old, and all made with ingredients sourced exclusively from Austria.

Speaking exclusively to The Moodie Davitt Report, Aïda CEO Dominik Prousek said the venue has now evolved into a potentially long-term operation, and he aims for it to become a benchmark for compact premium café concepts in travel environments.
Support for this lofty vision came in Barcelona this summer, as the Aïda/Allresto Munich pop-up was named Airport ‘Food to Go’ Offer of the Year winner at The Moodie Davitt Report’s 2025 Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Awards.

“The FAB Award meant so much,” Prousek told us. “It really underlined how Aïda has successfully translated classic Viennese coffeehouse culture into a modern, fast-service format, ideal for the travel space.”
He continued: “Our partnership with Allresto is a model example of how Viennese coffeehouse culture can thrive in a modern QSR environment. The team implements our training consistently and conveys the essence of our craftsmanship with great respect to international guests.

“I am extremely satisfied with the operational quality and the passion with which Allresto lives our values.”
Allresto CEO Andreas Reichert commented: “Aïda brings genuine Viennese hospitality to Munich Airport – warm, authentic and consistently high in quality. Our partnership demonstrates how tradition and modern airport gastronomy can inspire together.”

Aïda’s strong international performance continues beyond Munich. At Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport, its 300sq m SSP-operated store was the joint winner of Best Coffee Shop of the Year Middle East & Africa at the 2025 FAB Awards.
“It proves the concept delivers consistently across both small QSR units and full-size café formats,” reflected Prousek.

Asked about his next target for travel retail expansion, Prousek said he believes the pink-dominated Aïda brand is a good match for the US airport market.
“I recently travelled extensively in the USA, where I was amazed to see how much the airports there have changed for the better,” he commented. “But I believe there is a big gap in the market for sophisticated European coffee shop experiences.
“The coffee shop styles you see in the airports there are very American and similar in style – concepts like Aïda would bring a new dimension which I think would appeal to the US operators, and of course, the travellers. The potential is huge.”
