Announcing the tenders, Airport Authority Hong Kong said: “As a world-class aviation hub with an enormous customer flow of over 46 million passengers in the previous 12 months, the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is renowned for its wide and unique mix of retail and catering services. The exciting business potential at the airport is reflected in the increasing numbers of passengers, which is expected to grow approximately +5% each year in the next five years.
“In addition to the 46 million passengers, HKIA has a diverse customer mix that numbers about 10 million in meeters and greeters each year, as well as neighbouring residents, and 60,000 airport staff. A regular HKIA retail survey conducted by the Nielsen Company revealed that over 75% of passengers shopped or dined at the airport, and over 98% of the airport staff dined there.
“The West Hall (Gates 33-71) is a prime location, with increasing transfer activity. Approximately 45% of passengers and flights depart from that area, giving it strong business potential.”
