UAE. Ajmal Perfumes, a family-owned fragrance house based in Dubai, will make its first ever appearance at the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition next month (Stand number: C31).

Already active in the travel retail channel in the UAE, Ajmal Perfumes is now looking to branch out globally.

Founded by Ajmal Ali in India in the early 1950s, Ajmal Perfumes has grown from a modest trading house into a multi-million dollar corporate entity. Today this family-owned business is helmed by the second and third-generation Ajmals.

As a brand with over 57 years of experience in the art of perfumery, Ajmal Perfumes considers itself an innovator in perfume-making and a pioneer in the marketing of fragrance products to the Arab and Western markets.

Ajmal currently has over 118 retail outlets across the six countries in the GCC: The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain feature signature Ajmal outlets. With aggressive expansion plans, Ajmal aims to hit the 200 mark in the next three to five years.

Ajmal Perfumes will present some of its best-selling fragrances in travel retail at the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition, including (clockwise from top left) Unveil, Believe for Her, Believe for Him, Shadow for Him, Shadow for Her, and Zeyna

All Ajmal fragrances are 100% developed and manufactured in-house. The raw materials used for the company’s fragrances are sourced from internationally renowned suppliers such as Symrise, IFF, Firmenich, Givaudan, Drom and V Mane Fils. To ensure that the packaging of its fragrances are in line with international standards, Ajmal Perfumes sources glass bottles from high-quality manufacturers such as Brosse, NVM, Heinz Glass and Bormioli.

After the idea of a perfume is conceived, it is first evaluated by a “consumer panel”, which consists of a sampling of the target segment, according to the company.

Using advanced quality control equipment, the chief perfumer then makes sure that the quality of the blends conforms to internationally recognised standards. These include those set by IFRA (International Fragrance Association), regional bodies such as GMSO, as well as country-specific organisations such as SASO.

Today, Ajmal has a portfolio of over one hundred fragrances, from intense oriental perfumes to light contemporary French fragrances. Five fragrances are exclusive to travel retail: Unveil, Zeyna, Believe for Him, Believe for Her, and Dahn Oudh Platinum.
