Aldeasa captures the flavours and rhythms of Ibiza

The Shop, Aldeasa’s main store within its revamped Ibiza Airport portfolio

SPAIN. Aldeasa opened its refurbished commercial areas at Ibiza Airport last week with the pledge to offer travellers “a genuine taste of the island right from the terminal”.

The retailer’s three stores – The Shop, The Express Shop (both in the Depatures lounge) and Buy-Bye (in the Arrivals lounge) – boast over 1,000sq m of shopping space. The last two shops will open in coming weeks.

Aldeasa has been present in Ibiza for over 32 years. In addition to traditional categories such as food, fragrances, cosmetics, beverages and tobacco, The Shop includes two new spaces, “˜Thinking Ibiza’ and “˜Discoshop’. These offer, respectively, typical products from Ibiza and a wide variety of electronic music and merchandising from Ibiza’s most emblematic discos.

Thinking Ibiza was designed in keeping with the island’s architectural style, including Ibiza’s traditional sinewy white houses. This area offers typical products, including white and Mediterranean ceramics, and herbal perfumes and soaps.

Food products are also featured, including ensaimadas from Ibiza, Santa Eulalia sweets, fig bread, almond sweets and pastries, typical sausages such as butifarrón, goat’s cheese and salt from Ibiza. The shop also offers the island’s traditional herbal liqueurs.

Discoshop is an innovative retail space in which the three emblematic macrodiscos in Ibiza, Amnesia, Pachá and Space, creators of the Mediterranean electronic music scene, have their own unique areas. Here the latest hits of the Ibiza nights can be heard every 15 minutes.

Resident DJs will be invited to share their music with travellers at peak travelling and shopping hours. This space is located in the middle of The Shop, although the design separates it from the other areas.

Aldeasa said that a unique ambiance has been created with black ceilings and floors. Each disco has decorated its own space, transporting their respective brand images into the store to offer their merchandise, including T-shirts, tops, dresses, swimsuits and much more.

The music is a constant element in this area, as well as music videos. The discos will publicise their promotional events with DJs, go-go dancers and fashion models.

“The objective is to provide travellers with a unique experience of the best the island has to offer,” said Aldeasa Director of National Operations Pedro Castro.
