SOUTH KOREA. Much-respected travel retail industry veteran Allen Hong has been appointed Senior Managing Director of Merchandising at City Duty Free, effective 12 June.
City Duty Free is a relative newcomer to the Korean travel retail market, having entered the sector two years ago. It operates duty free concessions at Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 and Gimpo International Airport as well as a duty free business at the Port of Incheon. As reported, it was also recently awarded one of the concessions set aside for small & medium enterprises (SMEs) at Incheon International Airport T2, slated to open in October.
City Duty Free also won a downtown duty free licence in Seoul late last year and expects to open a store at the ShinChon station building in west Seoul in the first half of 2018
Hong has previously worked for Eugene Corporation, Hanwha Galleria Duty Free, Walkerhill Duty Free and Lotte Duty Free.
