UK. Monarch Airlines has appointed Alpha Flight to manage its inflight retail and catering business. The three-year concession deal began on 19 March. The move followed “an evaluation of strategic supplier partnerships and internal processes” at Monarch, said a statement.
Monarch Airlines Operations and Customer Services Director Kevin George said: “This is an important and exciting initiative which enables us to focus on our core competence of running a successful airline, while reaping the considerable benefits of outsourcing our catering and retail requirements to professionals with a proven track record.”
Alex Forbes, Business Director at Alpha Regional Airports added: “We are delighted with the opportunity to extend our proactive and long standing relationship with Monarch. Our Management Services Team have formulated a bespoke Business Plan that we are confident will deliver a unique passenger service offering and material financial benefits over the next three years.”
Under the agreement Alpha takes responsibility for the creation and delivery of the Catering and Retail customer proposition, associated budget and related passenger satisfaction metrics. Alpha will have full control and design of the supply chain with Monarch Airlines holding full brand ownership and final sign-off, said the partners.
This is the second key inflight concession Alpha has announced in recent days. As reported, the company has just landed a full inflight service concession with Viking Airlines.
In other Alpha news, Eurostar (UK) Ltd has extended its current catering contract with Alpha Flight for a further year at its Waterloo production facility and at St Pancras International Station.
