Alpha joint venture wins contract to supply newly created Brussels Airlines – 25/04/07

BELGIUM. Alpha Flight Services’ joint venture Vecats has won the contract to provide the bond logistics service and supply the onboard catering programme for the newly created Brussels Airlines. The new carrier was created through the merger of Virgin Express and SN Brussels Airlines.

Alpha Flight Services Managing Director Mainland Europe & USA Robert Shepherd said: “We are delighted that Vecats has expanded its services to supply the newly merged airline. We are now servicing passengers on 117 daily outbound flights from Brussels, nearly five times the number we serviced for Virgin Express prior to the merger.”

Vecats began catering Brussels Airlines on 25 March. Brussels Airlines took over Virgin Express’ 50.1% share in Vecats following the merger of the two airlines.

Brussels Airlines Chief Executive Officer Philippe Vander Putten said: “Brussels Airlines’ b.light buy on board service was launched as a result of a survey of 5,000 passengers. Aimed at business travellers looking for low cost one-way tickets, Vecats will supply the b.light buy on board service on all 117 daily Brussels Airlines outbound flights. We look forward to a long and successful working relationship with them.”

Before the airline merger, Alpha Flight Services managed the bond logistics facility and loaded the Virgin Express aircraft.
