Anthon Berg unveils Coffee Liqueurs and extends Marzipan Bar range

Danish chocolate brand Anthon Berg unveiled two new products and new packaging designs at the TFWA World Exhibition last week.

The company has added Marzipan Bar Nougat to its Marzipan Bar range, which now has a total of four flavours.

Marzipan Bar Nougat features hazelnuts roasted in Gianduia – said to provide a deeper flavour – as well as almond paste and creamy nougat. The bar is covered with a thick layer of dark chocolate, finished with a decorative swirl of milk chocolate.

Marzipan Nougat completes the Marzipan Bar product line-up

The packaging of the Marzipan Bar range has also been redesigned with a modern look. The front of the box shows the bars as well as the ingredients in each of the bars. All boxes now feature pink details – a signature colour for the Anthon Berg brand – and can be displayed standing up, instead of laying flat on the shelf. This allows the brand to double the number of facings on-shelf without taking up more shelf space.

Anthon Berg Travel Retail Director Peter Dige said: “The Marzipan Bar Original has been a bestseller for over 130 years on domestic markets. The Marzipan Bar Nougat is the bestselling product next to the original. It is a line extension we believe will be very successful in the range, which also counts the Marzipan Bar Cognac and the Marzipan Bar Extra Dark & Cocoa Nibs.”

Anthon Berg also introduced new coffee liqueurs in Cannes last month. A line extension of the company’s bestselling chocolate Cocktails liqueurs, they are available in four coffee flavours: Irish Coffee (a warming whisky), French Coffee (a tangy orange liqueur), Cuban Coffee (white rum and mild caramel) and Mexican Coffee (featuring a shot of tequila).

The coffee liqueurs are produced using a premium coffee bean, said to provide an intense taste with a sweet and spicy finish.

Anthon Berg believes now is the right time to add a coffee version to its successful range of chocolate liqueur bottles

Chocolate Coffee Liqueurs come in transparent tubes as a pack of 26 or 16 pieces and also a square-shaped window box. Each bottle is individually wrapped in coloured tin foil, featuring images of roasted coffee beans.

Dige commented: “The combination of coffee and chocolate is an evergreen. But coffee itself has also had a comeback and has been reintroduced as a fine food on a much broader scale than ever before. That’s why we believe that now it is the right time to launch a coffee version of our successful chocolate liqueur bottles.

“The two other products in the range, Chocolate Liqueur Bottles and Chocolate Cocktail Bottles, are the two top selling products in the Anthon Berg travel retail portfolio, so we believe that our new product Chocolate Coffee Liqueurs is a profitable way to expand.”

To support the launch of Chocolate Coffee Liqueurs, Anthon Berg is running a promotion at selected stores based around the company’s “˜Generosity’ theme. Customers are invited to play a coffee liqueur themed game of “˜spin the bottle’ for a chance to win plane tickets to countries where the four coffee recipes are from.
