Areas completes major food & beverage upgrade at Paris Gare de Lyon

FRANCE. Leading travel restaurateur Areas has completed a major upgrade of food & beverage spaces at Paris Gare de Lyon Hall 2, a project it embarked on in Autumn 2022. The mezzanine area of the station has now been fully renovated to include Hoppy Brasserie, a concept created by Areas in collaboration with Paris brewer Gallia (in which Heineken is a shareholder).

The new brewery-inspired outlet features Gallia beers and a multicultural menu designed by Areas Executive Chef Cyrielle Boutaud

Hoppy Brasserie draws the eye with its many coloured light bulbs and “warm, urban ambience” visible through the glass frontage. The décor includes three large, colorful frescoes by the Weird Walls artists’ collective along with bio-sourced and vintage furniture. Areas said that pop design is everywhere in the unit, down to the brasserie’s checkerboard floor.

Much of the Gallia range is featured, including four draught beers and Gallia bottled beers. On the à la carte menu, food and beer pairings are among the options. The menu is designed by Areas Executive Chef Cyrielle Boutaud and features French gastronomic classics and reinterpretations of world cuisine.

Areas France CEO Yves Lacheret said: “Hoppy Brasserie has been designed to welcome both travellers passing through and working near the Gare de Lyon, all in a guinguette spirit conducive to escapism. In keeping with new trends, we wanted to offer a modern, short menu, as well as an emblematic brand of beer.”

Also in Hall 2, since work began in late 2022, a Starbucks has opened in the mezzanine and Areas has created a relaxation area where passengers can enjoy a winter garden-like environment. Here they have views of the entire concourse, platforms, and the train display panels.

Areas has also redesigned and expanded brands such as Monop’Daily, and added new offers from Roberta Caffè, Maison Pradier and Dalloyau. On platform 23, Paul offers a new, digitalised customer experience with ordering terminals, plus new digital and physical signage. ✈
