Areas unveils Santagloria Coffee & Bakery at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport

SPAIN. Travel restaurateur Areas has opened the Santagloria Coffee & Bakery in Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport Terminal 2. The brand, owned by FoodBox Lateral Group, currently has six additional outlets in operation with Areas across other Spanish airports.

The 234sq m café is the sixth of 35 venues to be opened by Areas as part of a major food & beverage programme after the company, as reported, won a major tender for Madrid-Barajas Airport last year.

Santagloria Coffee & Bakery – now present in 153 locations across Spain – serves high-quality baked goods, both savoury and sweet, including the brand’s signature Santas and Glorias. Savoury options include focaccias and empanadas.

In addition to a range of coffees, smoothies and frappés also feature on the drinks menu.

The Santagloria Coffee & Bakery brand is operated by Areas in locations at Alicante, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat (two outlets in T2), Bilbao, Ibiza and Valencia airports.

The brand is also operated by Areas at Seville’s Santa Justa train station and in the IFEMA Madrid fairgrounds.

FoodBox Lateral Group Development Director Ignacio Poblaciones said: “This grand opening reinforces Santagloria’s presence in highly strategic locations, such as airports and train stations. This is another example of our successful partnership with Areas, a key to our goal of consolidating our position as one of the main organised food & beverage groups in Spain.”

Areas Iberia Marketing and Expansion Director commented: “At Areas we are committed to responding to travellers’ needs and demands, offering the widest variety of culinary options in our outlets. With this association we will continue to reaffirm our mission and to work on creating different and unique experiences for our travellers.” ‍
