MONTENEGRO. Aer Rianta International (ARI) has appointed Sarah Farrelly as General Manager, Montenegro Duty Free. She replaces Deyan Fitzgerald, who returns to the ARI Global Business Development team as Business Development Manager for Europe and North America.

Sarah Farrelly: 11 years in retail management with the state-owned company

Farrelly has worked with ARI for the past 11 years, initially as Retail Manager at The Loop, Dublin Airport, before her most recent role as Global Retail Excellence Executive. She brings “significant commercial expertise and retail experience” to the post, ARI said.

ARI opened its Montenegro Duty Free stores at Podgorica and Tivat airports in 2021, marking the company’s return to the Balkan region.

Sarah Farrelly commented: “I am thrilled to be joining the Montenegro team and continue the success they have garnered in such a short amount of time. To launch two thriving stores during a global pandemic is not only testament to the skill and determination of the entire Montenegro team but also to the leadership and excellent navigation Deyan executed.

“I look forward to continuing this success story, deepening our partnerships with Airports of Montenegro and other key stakeholders, and further growing the business.”

ARI Chief Operations and Business Development Officer Nuno do Amaral added: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sarah Farrelly as General Manager, ARI Montenegro Duty Free. It is an exciting time to join our Montenegro team and with Sarah’s strong commercial acumen, deep customer knowledge and insight, and her ability to deliver excellence in retail, Sarah is the ideal choice to lead the future growth of our Montenegro business.

“I would also like to thank Deyan for his excellent leadership and commitment to Montenegro Duty Free in the midst of many challenges during the global pandemic.”
