MEXICO. Passenger traffic at Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) airports leapt by +25.5% year-on-year in June, to 1.38 million. ASUR operates nine airports in the southeast of Mexico, including the key regional gateway of Cancún International.
Total traffic at Cancún climbed by +34.6% to 1.02 million, with other airports such as Merida and Cozumel also showing double-digit increases.
The figures were buoyed by a surge of +45.2% in international passenger traffic (to 797,437), principally at Cancún, which posted a +48.8% rise. From a smaller base, Cozumel international traffic rose by +10.5% to 37,698.
Domestic passenger traffic climbed by +6% year-on-year in June to 585,682.
