Adrian Littlewood: Key influence behind the commercial transformation of Auckland International Airport |
He was nominated for his role in the ambitious commercial development of the New Zealand gateway, whose third and latest phase opened during the month.
The Moodie Report Personality of the Month is a regular online feature, supported by leading Highland malt The Dalmore. It aims to recognise those individuals who by their deeds, attitudes and behaviour advance the industry’s cause.
As reported, the new-look Departures space in Auckland’s International Terminal features a symbolic and iconic tree-like structure known as “˜Pou Manawa’ – certain to prove a “˜wow’ factor among passengers.
It also houses a world-class retail offer with an expanded range of retail outlets, food options and new local and international brands, including Apple, Swatch, Moët & Chandon, MAC Cosmetics and Icebreaker.
Littlewood and the commercial team were also key to delivering the previous two phases of development at the Departures duty free stores. The first was in partnership with dual concessionaries JR Duty Free and DFS (opened in May 2010), followed by the launch of speciality stores in the eastern precinct (opened in August).
The goal in the new-look zones is to dramatically increase the passenger spend rate through a more dynamic retail area – one that combines both New Zealand and international brands, as well as driving additional promotional activity in and around the stores. With this latest phase now open, Auckland Airport has a commercial offer it can be proud of.
Previous Personalities of the Month include DFS Co-Founder Robert Miller, Aer Rianta International-Middle East Managing Director John Sutcliffe, Zürich Airport Chief Commercial Officer Peter Eriksson, Schiphol Group Business Area Consumers Managing Director Otto Ambagtsheer, Dubai Duty Free Managing Director Colm McLoughlin and Sydney Airport General Manager, Retail Derek Larsen. The monthly selections will also receive a bottle of The Dalmore Single Highland Malt.
NOTE: Adrian Littlewood will be speaking at the Trinity Forum 2011, to be held in Bangkok on February 9-11. The Forum, a joint venture between Airports Council International (ACI) and The Moodie Report, is being hosted by King Power International Group. To register click here.
