Australian stationery brand Smiggle set to expand at Asia Pacific airports with Lagardère Services – 16/09/09

Smiggle will open and operate stationery stores across the Asia Pacific region alongside partner Lagardère Services


ASIA PACIFIC. Stationery brand Smiggle has signed an agreement with leading travel retailer Lagardère Services Asia Pacific to open and operate Smiggle stores in airports across the region.

Lagardère Services General Manager, Australia Luc Mansion said: “We are honoured to be partnering with Smiggle to represent them in travel retail locations throughout Australia and New Zealand and explore opportunities in Asia. Smiggle are well known in Australia and New Zealand for their great design, use of colour and fun in innovative stationery stores.”

“Smiggle is such a bold and progressive brand offering stationery at great prices. The brand will be well accepted by travellers and we look forward to opening the first Smiggle store in travel retail soon,” he added.

Since its formation in 2003 Smiggle has grown to over 65 stores, becoming one of Australia’s most popular stationery brands.

Smiggle is owned by The Just Group, which operates over 950 stores across seven retail brands throughout Australia and New Zealand, and via a joint venture in South Africa.

Just Group Managing Director Jason Murray said: “Smiggle is a fast growing business with a lot of potential. Entering the travel retail market through a franchise agreement with Lagardère Services provides another exciting avenue for growth of the Smiggle brand in its existing markets of Australia and New Zealand, as well as new markets throughout Asia Pacific.”
