Avolta’s Hudson seals contract for six more stores at Pittsburgh International Airport

USA. Travel experience player Hudson, part of Avolta, has agreed a seven-year contract with the Allegheny County Airport Authority to extend its presence at Pittsburgh International Airport with six more stores.

The latest commercial contract is part of Pittsburgh’s US$1.57 million Terminal Modernization Program, which includes a new landside terminal, as well as renovations to its existing airside terminal.

The shops will cover 2,400sq m and open in the airport’s modernised terminal by the end of 2025.

Hudson will operate the stores as a joint venture under the name of HG PIT Retailers JV, with local Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) partner Daryl Milliner Media.

Hudson’s new retail offerings will include three locations for its well-known travel convenience store brand and one for global cosmetics brand MAC.

There will also be two shops that Hudson said will “evoke the essence of Pittsburgh by paying homage to the city’s famed sports teams and talent and creativity of local artisans”.

The Hudson convenience stores will offer magazines, snacks and beverages, travel and convenience necessities, local souvenirs, electronics, and more.

The remaining stores will be located in the terminal’s Centre Core, where MAC Cosmetics will offer a curated collection of its most popular products.

According to Hudson, Champion City Sports will be “a celebration of the heart and soul of Pittsburgh’s sports culture”. It will offer apparel, memorabilia and accessories from local sports teams, as well as products from Build-a-Bear and Vera Bradley.

The stores will also incorporate an interactive sports simulator for travellers to play while waiting for their flights.

The final opening in the six-shop line-up will be Duquesne & Co., which Hudson said will “showcase the rich tapestry of Pittsburgh’s talent and craftmanship”. Products will be supplied by local artisans and brands including Spectrum Fudge, Pittsburgh Popcorn, Heinz and love, Pittsburgh.

Avolta North America President and CEO Steve Johnson said: “Pittsburgh International Airport is evolving to meet the ever-growing needs of travellers and the surrounding region, and we are thrilled to be part of the transformation.

“The new PIT is a world-class airport worthy of the great city it represents. With a convenient mix of travel essentials and one-of-a-kind finds, our newest retail options will provide a perfect complement to the airport’s mission of delivering a smarter, more efficient passenger experience that is uniquely Pittsburgh.”

Pittsburgh Airport Senior Vice President for Air Service and Commercial Development Bryan Dietz said: “We are excited to build our partnership with Hudson to give our passengers new choices for cosmetics and other amenities, while also serving up a uniquely Pittsburgh experience through local modern gifting.”

Hudson currently operates 11 travel convenience, specialty retail and duty-free stores at the airport including Hudson Booksellers, Dunkin’, Sarris Candies and Pittsburgh Duty Free. ✈
