ASIA PACIFIC. Pernod Ricard Asia Duty Free has launched a new promotion at airports within the Asia Pacific region. The competition, entitled “Timeless Impression”, allows travellers to compete for a chance to “Swing in Jeju, Savour in Scotland”, on what is described as a trip of a lifetime.
The promotion, part of the Ballantine’s Championship – the first European golf tour to be held in Korea – started in January and will run until the end of March 2008.

Travel retail customers will receive a free Ballantine’s Championship golf bag at selected duty free stores when buying Ballantine’s. At point of purchase, they can enter the prize draw to win the trip in one of two ways: online at www.ballantines-golf.com or by completing a Ballantine’s game card and posting it.
The first prize winner will travel business class to Jeju Island, Korea, host to the Ballantine’s Championship European PGA Tour. The prize includes one day practising contemporary golf on the magnificent Pinx Golf course, where all the golfing masters battle for glory during the Ballantine’s Championship.
Following this, the winner will fly to the home of golf, St. Andrews, to practise their swing on Scotland’s finest golf course.

To support the competition in selected Asia-Pacific duty free stores, travellers can take part in a putting competition, and in an interactive game which challenges their knowledge of Ballantine’s, Scotch whisky in general and the Ballantine’s Championship European PGA Tour.
Through both activities they can win limited-edition Ballantine’s prizes, including an exclusive Ballantine’s Championship luggage tag.
“The shared heritage between golf and Ballantine’s provides an exciting opportunity for Pernod Ricard,” commented Pernod Ricard Asia Duty Free Regional Marketing Manager Gloria Song.
“This region-wide duty free execution coincides with the golf championship to provide consumers with a new level of appreciation for Ballantine’s Scotch and golf.”
She added: “The Ballantine’s “Timeless Impression” promotion in Korea Incheon and Hong Kong International Airport has been very successful so far. There has been a high consumer participation rate in both the competition and the interactive and putting games. We will continue to increase the exposure of the brand across Asia airports and will expect to see record-breaking results in the upcoming months.”
Ballantine’s is the No. 3 Scotch whisky in global travel retail (source: IWSR 2006).
Note: Participating airports include Korea Incheon Airport, Korea Jeju Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, Thailand Bangkok Airport, Vietnam Ho Chin Ming Airport, Bali Denpasar Airport, Hawaii and Saipan airport.
The following DFS Gallerias are also running the promotion in their downtown stores: DFS Singapore, DFS Bali, DFS Hawaii & DFS Saipan.
