BIAL’s short-list document outlines the list of companies in the running for its five-year duty free concession |
INDIA. Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has short-listed seven leading travel retailers for the core category duty free and apparel tender at Bengaluru International Airport.
They are Aer Rianta International, DFS Group, Dufry, Flemingo Duty Free, LS travel retail, The Nuance Group and World Duty Free Group.
The short-list was drawn up after an initial Expressions of Interest phase. The candidates now have the opportunity to place their full submissions, which are due between 10-16 January 2013. BIAL expects to be in a position to issue letters of intent to the winner by the start of February next year.
Nuance India is the incumbent duty free retailer. The tender management process is being handled by Paris-based specialist public tender and marketing company PT&M.
Bengaluru International, opened in 2008, is one of India’s most modern and impressive airports. Terminal 1 is being expanded from 71,000sq m to 134,000sq m with work due for completion in March 2013.
Duty free (package 15) includes all core categories (spread across both Departures and Arrivals and embracing some 1,338sq m of retail space), including a minimum 100sq m dedicated to the following sectors:
1. Men’s apparel and accessories (Formal – medium/high
2. Men’s apparel and accessories (Casual/Leisure -medium/high)
3. Women’s apparel and accessories (Fashion – medium/high)
The contract will run for five years.
