Chanel has unveiled the N°1 De Chanel collection. The new skincare and makeup line is centred around the revitalising power of Red Camellia extract. It will launch in global travel retail on 14 January.
The collection was designed to prepare, treat, enhance and revive the skin.
To prepare the skin, the collection offers the Powder-to-Foam Cleanser and Camellia Revitalising Lotion. The former purifies and illuminates the skin, while the latter boasts plumping and revitalising properties.
To treat the skin, N°1 De Chanel includes the Red Camellia Revitalising Eye Cream, Red Camellia Revitalising Serum and Red Camellia Revitalising Cream. The eye cream targets dark circles, wrinkles and puffiness in the eye area. The serum prevents and corrects the five visible signs of skin ageing, while the cream smooths and plumps the skin.
To enhance the skin, the collection offers the Red Camellia Revitalising Foundation and Red Camellia Revitalising Lip and Cheek Balm. The foundation illuminates and moisturises, while the lip and cheek balm boost colour and nourish and plump the skin.
The collection features the Red Camellia Revitalising Serum-in-Mist and L’Eau Rouge Revitalising Fragrance Mist to revive the skin. The anti-pollution serum-in-mist refreshes the skin and boosts radiance while the fragrance mist invigorates the skin with a delicate rose scent.
With the aim of minimising its impact on the environment, the refillable collection has been packaged and formulated with sustainability in mind. The formulas used in N°1 De Chanel are made with 97% naturally-derived and up to 76% Camellia-derived ingredients.
The bottles utilise lightweight recycled glass and organic ink, while the caps have been constructed with up to 90% bio-based materials. The cartons used are made with FSC-certified packaging and feature a QR Code that reveals key ingredient and sustainability information.
Red Camellia, the key ingredient in the line, targets the first stage of the skin aging process. Blooming only in winter, the Red Camellia is extracted in Chanel Research’s outdoor laboratory in Gaujacq, a town in Southwest France that serves as a botanical experimentation site dedicated to the study of Camellias. Spread over 40 hectares, the laboratory is managed based on agro-ecology and agroforestry principles to preserve local biodiversity.
Clinical tests on 45 omen living in polluted environments revealed that after two months, N°1 De Chanel slows the appearance of wrinkles. Further tests showed that the line enhances skin elasticity, boosts skin radiance and makes skin feel more comfortable.
