Bénédictine’s metal gift box for the 2006 festive season is designed by young artist Katrin Fridriks |
FRANCE. French liqueur producer Bénédictine is celebrating 2006 with its 14th annual metal gift box known as the Art Collection. The new limited series will be on-shelf from October 2006.
Following the success of the 2005 gift box, illustrated by Robert Combas, Bénédictine has recruited a new young artist from pop culture, Katrin Fridriks, to create an original work for the 2006 festive season.
Every year the company, produces an original box in decorated metal for the festivities.
Bénédictine is a patron of art and artists and has its own art gallery that stages exhibitions for artists and other art forms, including the limited-edition collection of metal boxes.
About Bénédictine
The recipe of the amber-coloured liqueur with its flashes of gold, created during the Renaissance by a Venetian monk, Dom Bernardo Vincelli, blends 27 plants and spices from all four corners of the world: vanilla from Madagascar, nutmeg from Indonesia and cinnamon from Sri Lanka. Bénédictine, available in 70cl bottles and 40%abv, can be drunk after dinner, either neat or on the rocks, or in cocktails (see recipes below).
About Katrin Fridriks
Katrin Fridriks, born in 1974 in Reykjavik, is described by Bénédictine as “an urban iconoclast who reacts to the hustle and bustle of life, in big cities and their suburbs, by dashes of paint cast in a rapid flow of consciousness”. Currently living in Paris, her work is the result of that intermingling of different cultures. For the last four years, she has been working on a visual universe and language interwoven by Pop Art, Graff and Japanese calligraphy, expressed in an urban, colourful aesthetic. An exhibition, in the Art Gallery of the Benedictine Palace, in spring 2007, will present numerous works by the artist. Fridriks has previously exhibited her work in Europe.
