Biotherm offers passengers the chance to Travel Recharge

FRANCE. Biotherm has unveiled what it claims to be the first global skincare solution designed exclusively for travellers. The Travel Recharge line – which features one product for women and one for men – will be available in European travel retail by the end of June. It will roll out to the Americas in July and August, and to Asia in September.

The products are described as multi-tasking treatments that protect the skin from the multiple stresses of travel, both emotional (disturbed sleep, jet leg, worry over delays/lost luggage) and environmental (changes in temperature, humidity and pollution).

These issues affect the skin’s hydration levels, and its overall cellular vitality, leading to skin dryness and signs of fatigue. According to a crew survey in summer 2010, 90% of frequent flyers say their skin looks tired and feels taut following a long-haul flight.

To address this, Biotherm created the Travel Recharge line, which it describes as a one-stop recovery treatment for travellers. The paraben-free formula contains Rhodiola Rosea, to limit the impact of environmental stresses on the skin, Himalayan Pink Salt, soothing Mint Extract to boost well-being, antioxidant vitamin E, plus Biotherm’s signature super-charged Pure Thermal Plankton extract.

For optimum results, application is recommended in the days before, during and after a trip. Repeated use helps to better protect the skin and to speed up its recovery, the brand maintains.

Travel Recharge is presented in travel-friendly, ultra-lightweight, carry-on size 30ml packaging. The women’s version is coloured white; the men’s version grey. To complement the launch, Biotherm has created a Travel Coach iPhone app, available from June.

The app offers tips for stress-free travel. Users enter their departure and arrival cities, and a personalised programme will send through information about hydration levels, massage techniques and anti-jet lag advice.

To demonstrate Travel Recharge’s anti-fatigue and hydrating properties, Biotherm has conducted trials with international cabin crew. Over 70 women and 60 men tested the product daily for two weeks, clocking up a cumulative 3,000 hours in the air.

All reported excellent scores in terms of skin moisturisation, plus a dramatic drop in signs of fatigue, redness and dullness.
