BrewDog and SSP partnership to open two UK rail venues

UK. Independent craft brewer BrewDog and travel restaurateur SSP Group will deepen their partnership with the opening of two UK rail station venues in early 2024.

A BrewDog Bar is planned for Edinburgh Waverley Station and a BrewDog Pub at London Waterloo, which is described as “a modern take on the traditional commuter pub”.

Located within Waterloo’s main concourse, the pub will have 16 taps of craft beer, including headliners such as Punk IPA, Hazy Jane and Elvis Juice. There will also be a range of spirits and cocktails from BrewDog Distilling Co. and Wonderland Cocktails.

One of the first fruits of the BrewDog/SSP partnership at Gatwick Airport, where a new bar/restaurant named BrewDog Gatwick recently opened

The food menu will offer a range of pub classics, as well as BrewDog’s signature wings and burgers.

The venue will enhance BrewDog’s existing presence at Waterloo station, where its bar/restaurant The Sidings serves over 15,000 people each week.

The two new locations follow recent BrewDog/SSP openings at London Gatwick’s North Terminal (see our story here) and Amsterdam Centraal Station in 2023.

BrewDog’s footprint now spans over 100 bars and hotels across the world, with plans to open another 200 venues in key international markets over the next seven years.

The world’s only event dedicated solely to the airport food & beverage and hospitality sectors will make a welcome return to the US next June. Please contact The Moodie Davitt Report Head of Events Jeannie Wong at Jeannie@MoodieDavittReport.com for details.

BrewDog Co-founder and CEO James Watt said: “We’re excited to be opening two more fantastic travel locations with our partner SSP. Waterloo is already a special place for us, and the new pub will take elements of the classic pub we know and love, but add a BrewDog twist.

“I’m sure it will quickly become a new local for those travelling regularly through the station. Opening at key transport hubs, like Edinburgh and London, is a big part of our growth plans and we look forward to opening more locations in the years ahead.”

SSP CEO UK & Ireland Kari Daniels said: “Following the successful openings in Amsterdam and Gatwick, we’re pleased to be opening more BrewDog venues at key UK travel locations. Our understanding of the travelling consumer means we’re confident both will be a big hit with those travelling through Edinburgh and Waterloo.”  ‍
