AUSTRALIA. Brisbane Airport is inviting “best-in-class operators” to bid for a five-year car rental concession, which begins on 1 January 2026.
Interested players can submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) by next week, with a shortlist of participants invited to the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage in early October.
This is the first car rental RFP in seven years at Brisbane Airport, and forms part of the wider transformation of Queensland’s premier gateway.
The car rental opportunity includes up to six concession licences across the Domestic and International terminals, with ready bays within a short distance from the terminal fronts and dedicated customer service booths.
Partners will also be supported through Brisbane Airport’s ecommerce platform and will benefit from access to marketing and promotional assets.
On-airport car rental operators at Brisbane Airport generated around A$177 million (US$117 million) in sales and over 347,000 transactions over the last 12 months. In 2024, 7% of Brisbane Airport’s passengers used a rental car.

Brisbane Airport Executive General Manager Commercial Scott Norris said the successful partners will join the airport community at an exciting time.
“We’re seeking on-airport car rental operators who deliver outstanding service and a seamless experience for both domestic and international passengers,” he said.
“The successful operators will partner with us to maximise efficiency, while providing choice and value for all passenger types.
“It’s a period of exciting growth for us at Brisbane Airport, set to welcome 25.2 million passengers in 2025, growing to 34 million by 2032.
“We look forward to receiving EOI submissions from operators who are eager to seize this growth opportunity in the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
EOI submissions for this opportunity close at 5pm (AEST) on 1 October. A shortlist will then be invited to respond to the RFP, with concessions awarded in early December.
On-airport car rental concessions will commence on 1 January 2026 for a five-year term.
