‘Future BNE’

This article forms part of an ongoing series by The Moodie Davitt Report dedicated to Brisbane Airport’s hugely ambitious A$5 billion (US$3.3 billion) ‘Future BNE’ development.

As reported, the programme, which includes over 150 projects, is the biggest in Brisbane Airport’s history.

Future BNE will upgrade both the Domestic and International terminals and continue the development of a new Terminal 3 precinct as both Brisbane and Queensland look forward to hosting the 2032 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.

In a unique eight-year editorial programme, we will track the development right through to the Games themselves.

The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie visited Brisbane Airport recently to kick-start the series by reporting on the new ten-year partnership between Lotte Duty Free and Brisbane Airport Corporation.

AUSTRALIA. “A multi-faceted sports and entertainment precinct unlike anything seen before in Queensland.”

That’s the pledge from Brisbane Airport as today it unveils a partnership with the Green Beacon Brewing Company and Golf Central for a “one-of-a-kind entertainment destination” named Landers Pocket.

Brisbane Airport said the precinct will offer a unique consumer experience for thousands of visitors and travellers each week.

“Brisbane Airport is thrilled to welcome this exciting development. It promises to provide travellers with a unique and memorable destination at BNE, while also becoming a landmark venue for Brisbane residents,” said Brisbane Airport Executive General Manager Commercial Martin Ryan.

“In 2025, this will be the newest venue for Brisbane to experience, injecting jobs and vibrancy into the Skygate precinct of the airport.

“The naming of Landers Pocket is a nice nod to history and the market garden that occupied part of the airport site a century ago.”

Green Beacon will run the brewery and distillery, which will complement an 800-person capacity hospitality offering operated by Golf Central.

The existing state-of-the-art golf driving range will double in size and include ball tracking in every bay.

The development will feature a second mini golf course, padel tennis courts, multiple function and event spaces, a beer garden, and an outdoor amphitheatre.

Green Beacon Brewing Company General Manager Richard Shrosbery said: “This announcement is unbelievably exciting for Green Beacon. The new brewery and hospitality venue will ensure we get our award-winning beers into the hands of more beer lovers than ever before.

“Green Beacon has been a part of the Brisbane community at Teneriffe [an inner suburb of the city -Ed] for over a decade, and this expansion will be a huge springboard for our brand. We want to bring people together to connect, talk, laugh and have fun – and we believe this new precinct will enable that.

A nod to local history

“This will also create dozens of job opportunities for the area. The team here are thrilled to be a part of this broader leisure precinct at Landers Pocket, right here in our home of Brisbane.”

Golf Central Managing Director James Cooper said, “Golf Central has always been at the forefront of golf innovation, and Landers Pocket will deliver a re-imagined golf and entertainment experience to our local, interstate and international golfers.

“There will be something for everyone and we can’t wait for this next stage of our evolution to open in early 2025.”

The partnership agreement with Golf Central, established in Brisbane in 2013, will create a brand experience that solidifies Green Beacon as one of the top craft beers in the Sunshine State and Golf Central as one of the premier golf entertainment facilities in the country, Brisbane Airport said. ‍
