British American Tobacco showcases new limited editions and packaging

British American Tobacco (BAT) will highlight limited edition Dunhill offerings and unveil new travel retail packaging for Lucky Strike and State Express 555 at the TFWA Asia Pacific exhibition (Stand number: HS27 on level 3 at The Mezzanine).

Dunhill Special Reserve 2010

Available in selected markets for a limited time, Dunhill’s limited edition Special Reserve 2010 is made up of leaves from the traditional tobacco farms in Brazil’s Itajaí Valley and the Nile Valley, Uganda.

These crops were set aside to allow the leaf to age and mature. The leaf from each harvest was then blended by BAT’s Master Blenders to create a “˜Special Reserve’ defined by its origin, scarcity and harvest year: Special Reserve 2010 Bright Brazilian, and Special Reserve 2010 Brown Ugandan.

“Dunhill has gone to great lengths, seeking out the finest tobacco growing fields around the world where the “˜terroir’, the combination of sun, seed, soil and rain and our grower’s skills are at their best. Brazil and Uganda seem to be two of these areas of excellence, places in which we are very pleased to play a major role in,” said Global Travel Retail Asia Pacific Head of Brand James Li.

Fine Cut Exceptional Edition

Also on show in Singapore is Dunhill’s Fine Cut Exceptional Edition (FCEE), highlighted as a super-premium product designed to elevate the brand’s existing Fine Cut offers to a new level.

The FCEE is differentiated by attention to detail delivered through its packaging, format and its refined 46 cuts per square inch of the tobacco, BAT said. Pearlescent tipping creates a smoother taste sensation on the lip, “a simple idea that brings higher smoking pleasure to consumers”, the company added.

“Refinement Fine Cut is not one thing, but many. It is Dunhill’s most refined product in which each layer is a statement of craftsmanship through the 46 cuts per square inch, the demi-slim format and Dunhill’s final freshness seal of quality to ensure each cigarette’s taste reaches you just as our blenders intended,” said Li.

Limited edition packaging for the travel retail market

Recognising the importance of exclusivity in travel retail, BAT continues to introduce limited edition packaging for its products, such as hallmark brands 555 and Lucky Strike.

State Express 555 will add a new, highly-crafted limited edition that will be available in selected airports.

Inspired by the limited edition design and format in celebration of last year’s 140th anniversary of Lucky Strike, the brand will again add a creative cultural limited edition. This time the brand celebrates the year of the Dragon with a bolder design, to indicate prosperity for the year.

“Travel retail consumers are one of the most demanding and sophisticated groups of consumers, and they know exactly what they want,” Li said.

“The Chinese adult tobacco consumers, who are a major segment of our market, are definitely a step ahead of the tobacco industry in the super premium category and are more likely to put super-premium quality and image over price when selecting a travel retail product. They will settle for only the best, and British American Tobacco has had a long and rewarding relationship with our Chinese consumers by being in touch with that need,” he added.
