BELGIUM. Brussels Airport has revealed a self-operated, pay-per-use airside lounge named The View. The high-class space has been created by renowned London design studio JPA Design.
The multi-zoned premium lounge’s name is a reference to the lounge’s dual-aspect windows overlooking the travel hub’s apron and runways.

According to JPA, which was commissioned by Brussels Airport Company, the lounge “immerses guests in a setting that celebrates Brussels’ rich culture, heritage and present-day role at the heart of Europe”.
The design company said the inspiration was drawn from Brussels’ eclectic architectural landscape, with an interior that mirrors the city’s vibrant, multi-layered character. “This ethos is woven into every element of the new lounge,” it noted.

At the heart of the lounge is a central bar, anchored by a stained glass skylight that serves as the focal point of the space. JPA commissioned Brussels stained glass specialist Atelier Mestdagh to produce it.
Surrounding the bar, intimate two-person booths with privacy screens provide a comforting and private space for guests, “reflecting a thoughtful balance between social engagement and quiet retreat”, in the words of JPA.
JPA Interiors Design Director Alex Duncan commented: “We set out to create a space that embodies the spirit of Brussels, sophisticated yet playful, steeped in history yet forward-thinking.
“As with all the airport lounges and aircraft interiors that we design, our main objective is to create environments where the premier traveller can enjoy a five-star hospitality experience that provides an oasis from the stresses of travel.” ✈
