CHINA. Shenzhen Duty Free Group has been awarded the contract to run departures duty-free at Shekou Cruise Center in Shenzhen.
The award by Shenzhen China Merchants Shekou International Cruise Terminal Co Ltd (China Merchants Shekou) is a big boost to Shenzhen Duty Free Group.
The operation, to trade as Times DF, is located on the second floor of Shekou Cruise Center’s departures hall, which serves 2 million outbound passengers annually.
Shenzhen Duty Free Group said: “It is an important window for the development of Shenzhen’s cruise-related travel retail and the showcasing of a diversified commercial culture.
“It will help promote the development of Shenzhen’s cruise business and the Bay Area’s maritime travel retail industry in the future.”
The duty-free store’s operating area has been expanded from 174.36sq m to 435.06sq m, with a superior location and enhanced commercial value, the retailer said.
Leveraging more than 40 years of experience in duty-free commercial operations, Shenzhen Duty Free Group said it will make full use of its advantages in brand relationships, consumer membership and logistics resource to enhance the new area.
The company said it is committed to building a first-class commercial environment in the cruise homeport, creating a positive image of the country, and assisting the high-quality development of the cruise sector.
“Shenzhen Duty Free Group and China Merchants Shekou International Cruise Terminal Group will give full play to their respective resource advantages and join hands to jointly operate the Shekou Cruise Center departures duty-free store project,” the company said.
Through this cooperation, Shenzhen Duty Free Group’s foundations will be considerably strengthened, the retailer added.
The company said it will consolidate and increase the cruise port’s duty-free business scope, and lay a solid foundation for subsequent expansion in the duty-free sector.
Shenzhen Duty Free Group said the result represented its first important bidding success in 2024.
“With the mission of ‘Building on Strength’, Shenzhen Duty Free Group will make vigorous efforts to take new actions, and reshape the new consumption experience with a new and improved quality productivity.
“We will also promote the high-quality development of the duty-free industry, and help Shenzhen Duty Free Group to be better and stronger.” ✈
