UK. Cadbury Schweppes International Travel Retail (CSITR) is launching two big initiatives at the IAADFS Show in Fort Lauderdale this week. They are:
Caramel 500g Pouch: A new addition with a successful packaging format will be introduced in July 2005. The portfolio already comprises Cadbury Dairy Milk and Wholenut pouches (both 500g). Caramel is the most requested flavour variant in the Cadbury Dairy Milk range.
Bassett’s merchandising displays: The newly designed units will offer clear signposts for consumers to the sugar confectionery category, while reflecting the personality of the Bassett’s brand, according to Cadbury Schweppes. Styles include wallbays, gondola ends, columns and freestanding units.
Commenting on the new displays, Regional Sales Manager Tiho Marinac said: “Our most recent research shows that Bassett’s consumers find the wide variety of flavours really appealing and our new merchandising approach will assist the diverse audience of Bassett’s lovers to find their favourites more easily. We hope this, coupled with more initiatives to come in 2005, plus the continued support of our retail partners, brings another successful sales year to CSITR.”
In other news, Cadbury Schweppes announced a double-digit uplift in travel retail sales of Cadbury Dairy Milk 500g pouches for the full year 2004 versus 2003.
The firm attributes its success to its “fresh, dynamic” approach to the category. This includes a substantial team restructure. In the Americas, it has introduced new products, new merchandising displays plus other initiatives “intended to cement relationships with retail partners and the delivery of great new products for consumers”.
General Manager Steve Brock said: “I’m proud of these great results, which give evidence of the positive influence the new team and approach has offered. We intend to maintain the momentum this year and grow value sales and in turn, market share in this still incredibly dynamic channel.”
