EGYPT. Cairo Airport Company has issued an invitation for renowned international companies specialised in the management and operation of food & beverage (F&B) units and speciality retail stores to participate in the pre-qualification process for a forthcoming tender.

The company aims to select the most qualified international operators to manage and develop F&B and speciality retail activities across Cairo International Airport terminals 1, 2 and 3 in preparation for offering the opportunities in a limited tender among shortlisted companies.

Some 4,000-5,000sq m of commercial space will be available across the three-terminal opportunity, embracing airside and landside zones, international and domestic departures, and international arrivals.

The ultimate tender will offer attractive food & beverage and speciality retail opportunities serving a sizable and diverse clientele

The subsequent concessions, to be offered through the limited competitive bidding process, will be based on two separate commercial packages.

The concessions will run for five years with the possibility of two-year extensions.

Interested international companies may apply for one or both packages: P1 circa 2,500-3,000sq m and P2 circa 1,500-2,000sq m.

Participation is open to international operators with proven expertise, either individually or in partnership, provided they meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and operating food & beverage and speciality retail activities in at least two international airports outside the Arab Republic of Egypt with passenger volumes comparable to Cairo International Airport.
  • Management of a portfolio, including both international and local brands in line with the criteria outlined in the pre-qualification document.
Cairo International is Africa’s busiest international airport

The pre-qualification documents will be available starting Sunday 5 October against a non-refundable fee of US$200 (or equivalent), payable in cash, certified cheque, banker’s cheque or bank transfer.

The deadline for submission of all pre-qualification documents is Sunday 2 November.

Evaluation will be conducted strictly according to the requirements set forth in the pre-qualification documents and in accordance with Cairo Airport Company’s procurement and sales regulations and Egyptian law. ‍
