Camus wins top luxury prize with Extra Elegance – 29/10/07

FRANCE. Camus has been awarded top prize in a worldwide packaging design competition held at the Monaco Luxepack trade fair. The Cognac house achieved the Best of the Luxury Category accolade at the first edition of the Pentawards last week.

Competing against luxury brands in other industries such as fragrances and cosmetics, Camus Extra Elegance was selected for showing “creative excellence in brand packaging design”.

Placed on a pedestal: Extra Elegance is designed to be simultaneously modern and classic

Square, but opening on the diagonal, the Camus Extra Elegance gift box creates a luxurious pedestal for its decanter. The box was developed with Camus’s box partner and supplier, DDC, in Spain.

Designed as a paradox, Extra Elegance is described as simultaneously modern and classic – “strikingly beautiful to look at and touch, yet sufficiently self-effacing to let the beauty of the Cognac shine through”.

Designed by Florence Teyssedre, Director of C’neo Creative Design, the decanter is a blend of metal and glass. The simple shape is formed using 1.2kg of molten glass, a demanding process for which Camus sought the technical expertise of Saint Gobain and Segede.
