Capi launches GPS-equipped sports watch by Nike and TomTom

Leading electronics company Capi has launched the GPS-running SportWatch, powered by TomTom and developed in co-production with Nike.

Capi Electronics CEO Peter Wiggers said: “We are proud to be the exclusive selected retailer for this innovative product. Products like these fit very well with our own innovative concept of the electronic stores at both the landside and airside of international airports.”

The Nike+ SportWatch GPS will start recording data once the wearer starts running, and the data can be used to track progress. The wearer can control all functions during the run with just three buttons, tapping the screen to mark laps and activate the backlight. The data displayed during the run can be personalised so that wearers get instant feedback instead of having to wait until the run has finished.

The USB Connector is built into the watch strap, so that wearers can connect the watch straight to their computers and easily upload run data or recharge the battery.

Combining GPS by TomTom and the Nike+ shoe-based sensor, wearers can start tracking their runs instantly, and get accurate speed and distance information whether they are inside or outdoors – even if the GPS signal gets interrupted. The Nike+ SportWatch GPS tracks time, distance, pace, heart rate and calories burned. It also shows mapped routes, with data on speed and changes in elevation on Nikeplus.com. The watch provides heart rate information via the Polar Wearlink+ transmitter Nike+, which is sold separately.
