Capi opens new concept electronics store at Frankfurt Airport

GERMANY. Electronics retailer Capi has opened a 100sq m store at Frankfurt Airport, with flexibility at the heart of its new concept.

Located in Terminal 1, Hall B, Non-Schengen, the store is furnished in the “˜Capi The Travellers Electronics Company’ style. Capi won a tender for the electronics concession at the German hub in 2011 for a period of five years.

Fraport Senior Manager Category Management Hans-Georg Mühlberg said: “The area B-transit is one of our busiest areas in Frankfurt. Thus we are very content to have Capi The Travellers Electronics Company as a trustworthy partner as well as an enriching concept for our new market space in transit B-West.”

The company has rolled out its latest concept to the new store based around three marketing drivers and seven marketing concepts. Refurbishments are already underway to implement the concept at its other stores.

One corner of the store is dedicated to gifting, whereby customers are offered a choice of electronic gift items, and the company said the overall concept would allow for “great flexibility in shop size and lay-out”.

Capi Managing Director Peter Wiggers added “This shop was a challenge – the new developments in the retail concept put more pressure on the design. Everyone put in a lot of hard work to make the opening a success and we are happy to have this new shop in this busy area in Frankfurt Airport.”

The retailer has three other stores at Frankfurt Airport, in addition to outlets at 16 other airports across Europe, the Middle East and South Africa.
