Fast-growing Australian spirits producer Four Pillars has claimed top honours at the Australian Liquor Industry Awards, held in Sydney on 23 October.
Four Pillars gin outclassed leading international brands to take the Liquor Brand of the Year, a first for an Australian craft spirit. Previous winners of the award include Jack Daniel’s (2016), Aperol (2017) and Furphy (2018).
Four Pillars also collected awards for Best Luxury Light Spirit and Best On-Premise Spirit/Liqueur.
Four Pillars Co-Founder Stuart Gregor described the award event as a “pretty special night” for the distillery. “As we approach just our sixth birthday it must be said it’s been a pretty epic year and this surely caps it off nicely,” he said.
Gregor said he and his partners, Cameron Mackenzie and Matt Jones, “had a bit of a pipe dream of creating a world-leading craft gin business” when they set up their business in 2013. “And it really does seem that the dream might be coming true,” he added.
As reported, brewing giant and Australian craft beer specialist Lion invested in Four Pillars gin earlier this year, taking a 50% share of the business. A profile of the brand and interview with Stuart Gregor can be found here.
