Carlucci launches precious collection in travel retail – 04/11/08

UK. Zero Group-owned jewellery brand Carlucci has launched a new range called Presioza, claimed to be the first collection in travel retail to combine 925 sterling silver with ruby and sapphire precious stones.

The new range, which had its first showing at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes last week, is expected to appeal to business travellers on international scheduled airlines.

Carlucci International Sales and Marketing Manager Keeley Hamblin-Smith said: “We are delighted to be expanding Carlucci with the new Presioza collection, which adds colour and glamour to the existing jewellery range. Having spoken with our clients and product development team, we discovered a gap in the market for precious stones set in silver and, to our knowledge, Carlucci is the first 925 silver brand to offer this in travel retail.”

Presioza includes six precious stone designs, including ruby and diamond set pendants and sapphire stone bangles. The pieces are priced at the top end, starting from £45 (US$70) for the diamond chip pieces to £250 (US$400) for the Genoa 0.4ct diamond circular pendant.

The 2.7ct Pavia Ruby Heart necklace and the Portenza Sapphire-set heart pendant are expected to be the best-sellers.

A soft launch for Presioza took place earlier this year in Asia, where the collection secured several listings including Air China, Hainan Airlines, China Northern Airlines and China Southern Airlines. Strong European listings are expected following the TFWA World Exhibition, said Hamblin-Smith.

Commenting on where Presioza sits within the overall Carlucci brand, Hamblin-Smith listed a number of famous British actresses in Hollywood who could be pictured wearing the pieces: “The main Carlucci items are wearable classics that wouldn’t look out of place on someone like Kate Beckinsale, for example. The handmade Italiana collection is more individual, with a slightly ethnic feel that you could imagine Sienna Miller wearing. These are now complemented by Presioza, which brings glamour and sensuality, and could be worn equally well by Helen Mirren or Catherine Zeta Jones.”
