CHINA. Cartier, in partnership with China Duty Free Group (CDFG), has unveiled a new-look boutique in Sanya’s International Duty Free Shopping Complex at a dazzling opening event inspired by the resort island’s natural beauty.
Members of the media, influencers and VIP guests joined Raymond Chew, Managing Director of Cartier Travel Retail Asia; Zhao Feng, Vice President of CDFG; Gao Xu Jing, GM Assistant of China Tourism Group Duty Free Co and Managing Director & President of CDFG Sanya Downtown Duty Free Store Co; and famed singer and actress Victoria Song – a longstanding friend of Cartier – in celebrating this milestone in Cartier’s presence in Sanya.
By modelling the Panthère Circle Jewellery collection, Ms Song provided one of the highlights of the celebration.
Drawing dual-inspiration from Sanya’s famous natural beauty and Cartier’s timeless craftsmanship, the event saw guests treated to an exclusive private viewing of the Cartier boutique following a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Conceived by famed Parisian artist and interior designer Bruno Moinard, and incorporating the Maison’s latest architectural concept, the Cartier Sanya Boutique is designed to be an embodiment of exclusive refinement. Its façade presents a graphic design, featuring bold architectural elements – playing with light, rectangular shapes and see-through contrasts.
An activation pad plays a central role in the concept, bringing the boutique to life for new launches and gatherings. Four distinct areas showcase Women’s, Men’s, Iconic and Diamond creations.
In the first ever roll-out of a new waiting lounge concept, guests at the boutique are welcomed into an inviting and intimate space, designed to deliver a lasting first-impression. The green and golden-bronze palette creates a sophisticated and vibrant atmosphere, setting the scene for the ensuing luxury retail experience and providing a unique point of differentiation for guests at the Sanya Boutique.
The interior emphasises the strong codes and emblems of the Maison, including the Panther and other historical iconography, while incorporating elements that represent Sanya’s natural beauty, providing a distinctive ‘Sense of Place’.
The décor features subtle shades of champagne and wood details intended to exude contemporary chic and elegance. The curled walls of the rectangular space create an intimate feeling, what Cartier described as “a comforting cocoon, adding verticality and femininity”.
Cartier said: “With this refined yet impactful architectural statement, the Maison has delivered another bold chapter in its story as a distinctive and pioneering brand within travel retail.
“By placing the shopper experience at the heart of its travel retail concept, Cartier has truly established its Sanya boutique as a ‘must-visit’ downtown shopping destination in one of travel retail’s most innovative and rapidly growing global locations.”
