HONG KONG. Cathay Pacific has introduced a novel initiative to make journeys for parents travelling with children more relaxing for both sides: the Oopzee Dayzee children pack and a L’Oréal single piece facemask.

“We know that travelling parents often face the hassle of dealing with messed up kids in the middle of a flight, spilling food or drinks upon themselves. They often do not have a spare set of clothes on hand for such mishaps,” said Cathay Pacific Inflight Sales & Logistics Manager Cindy Lam.

“Understanding this, we developed the Oopzee Dayzee children pack that has two T-shirts and a pair of pants plus two small cotton towels. Parents in an emergency can buy the pack on the spot, get their kids in clean clothes and enjoy the rest of the journey,” she said.

Cindy Lam: “We expect both promotions to increase sales per transaction, along with satisfied customers appreciating the value-adding initiatives.”

The Oopzee Dayzee children’s pack is sized for children of between 18 and 24 months and is selling at HK$220. With fun slogans on the shirts saying “˜Mum’s private pilot’ and “˜Bring me a bottle of your best white’ they even make a neat gift.

“With order restored, mum might want to freshen up herself with a moisturising facemask,” Cathay said.

“We hear from our passengers they would like to keep their faces moisturised during the flight to counteract the dry climate inside the aircraft cabin,” Lam commented. “Although hydrating cream and boxes of facial masks are already on sale, we heard that single piece facemasks would be ideal just for the journey’s use.”

As a result L’Oréal’s Revital Lift Masks are now available in singles at HK$25 a piece.

Commenting on both initiatives Lam said: “It really is the little things that can make all the difference to a journey. By paying attention to individual passengers’ problems we aim to always improve our service by anticipating everyone’s needs.”

Diamonds promotion sparkles

In related news Cathay Pacific Airways will give away a sparkling 0.60ct diamond valued at about HK$38,000 to the winner of an inflight lucky draw celebrating the airline’s 60th (diamond) anniversary.

From 1 July to 15 September passenger will receive a coupon for the Dazzling Diamond Lucky Draw with every HK$1,000 spent on sales items inflight. The winner will receive a 0.60ct diamond provided by Australian jewellery house Toscow.

Cindy Lam told The Moodie Report: “This quarter we also have the ‘Discover the Elegance’ promotion where passengers will be able to redeem a set of Cerruti wallet + pen at the exceptional price of HK$200 if they purchase HK$1,000 or above inflight. We expect both promotions to increase sales per transaction, along with satisfied customers appreciating the value-adding initiatives.”

The lucky draw result will be announced on 18 September and the winner invited to a prize presentation ceremony.

Earlier this year Cathay Pacific passengers struck gold when one 24ct gold bar was hidden in every 20 boxes of Goldkenn chocolates sold from 1 January to 31 March. By the end of the promotion passengers had found about 1.25kg of gold.

Cindy Lam said: “What better way to celebrate our diamond 60th anniversary with passengers than to give a beautiful diamond? Our lucky draw will add sparkle to our delightful inflight shopping experience. Thanks go to Toscow for providing such a perfect gem.”

Other celebrations for the 60th anniversary year include the airline’s biggest-ever “˜Best Chinese Food in the Air’ inflight food promotion, roadshows at four Hong Kong malls and special commemorative gifts and aircraft model collectibles.

In another special offer, leading gourmet house Hediard has created a unique item to celebrate Cathay Pacific’s 60th anniversary: a 1946 vintage Bas Armagnac from Maison Legrand. It is available on pre-order.

In other news passengers using the Preflight Order in July can earn double Asia Miles when they spend HK$1,000 or more in a single purchase.
