
CHINA. To mark the upcoming Spring Festival (10 February), cdf Haikou International Duty Free Shopping Complex in Hainan is offering consumers themed activities, giveaways and live performances. It aims to boost holiday consumption through an immersive ‘eat, drink, play, music, shopping’ experience that incorporates a true Sense of Place.
Until 18 February, cdf Haikou is promoting the development of ‘Duty Free+’ by showcasing over 800 domestic and international brands across 45 product categories. This includes beauty and skincare, clothing, luxury watches, gourmet food and home furnishings among others.


The marketing campaign includes customer incentives such as ‘ten million government consumption vouchers’ on Jitterbug, which offer savings up to ¥1,000 (US$140.81). Consumers can also look forward to receiving Chinese New Year-themed gifts.
The entertainment on-site will feature dragon and lion dances, Chinese drums, as well as ‘Song of Li Folk’ – a carnival play which was presented at the 10th Wuzhen Theatre Festival in October. These programmes aim to bring Hainan’s traditions into the duty free environment, enhancing visitors’ sense of cultural experience.
Consumers staying in Haikou at 70+ neighbouring hotels will also receive shopping perks. For example, cdf Haikou and Hilton Haikou Hotel have jointly created a surprise room package.
Throughout February, tourists will be offered high-quality products and diversified choices in ‘eating, living, travelling, shopping and entertainment’. cdf Haikou has also introduced a fast-passing route to enhance customer convenience.
