CHINA. China Duty Free Group (CDFG) today celebrated the inauguration of its new duty free store at Haikou Meilan International Airport Terminal 2. The opening coincided with phase II of the Haikou gateway officially commencing operations.
The store (trading as Haikou Meilan Airport T2 Duty Free Shop) means CDFG, part of China Tourism Group, now enjoys full coverage across both T1 and T2.

The new store covers 9,313sq m of space within the third floor airside zone. CDFG offers a wide array of cosmetics, fragrances, fashion and luxury boutiques, watches, jewellery, wines & spirits, food & confectionery, consumer technology and other categories.
A ‘purchase and pick-up’ model allows customers to take the goods onboard their aircraft after completing the transaction. CDFG also offers a range of support services, including duty free pick-up, duty free mailing, and invoicing.
Haikou Meilan International Airport has transformed in recent years from a pure transit centre focusing on passenger transportation and airport logistics to an important hub for duty free luxury shopping, CDFG noted.
The opening of the new store enhances the retailer’s pioneering role in Hainan’s offshore duty free sector and will ensure that consumers are provided with higher-quality duty free goods and services in the future, CDFG said.
To celebrate the opening, Haikou Meilan Airport Duty Free Shop launched a series of promotions and attractive discounts.
During the opening period, flash discount sales will be held across leading categories.
CDFG said: “With the continuous positive results from Hainan’s offshore duty free policy, Hainan has become one of the first choice travel retail shopping destinations for domestic and foreign tourists.
“With the support of the parent company China Tourism Group, the Haikou Meilan Airport Duty Free Shop under CDF Group will continue to strengthen the integration of high-quality resources and to optimise the shopping environment to provide domestic and foreign tourists with more convenient and high-quality shopping experience and services. We will help the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, which promotes the continuous and vigorous development of the Hainan market.”
