SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free launched Charlotte Tilbury at the retailer’s flagship store in Myeong-dong, Seoul on 17 December, marking the British beauty brand’s offline store debut in Korean travel retail.
The brand was founded in 2013 by renowned international makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury. Led by the hugely popular colour line, Charlotte Tilbury has grown into a leading British and international beauty label during the intervening years.

Lotte Duty Free introduced Charlotte Tilbury in the Lotte Internet Duty Free Shop in June, a Korean travel retail first for the brand. Following the latest opening on the 12th floor of the Myeong-dong store, various Charlotte Tilbury products can now be found through online and offline channels.
Popular products include Charlotte’s Magic Cream, which makes the skin moist and shiny before makeup; the Pillow Talk Collection (said to be sold every two minutes worldwide), and Airbrush Flawless Foundation – used by actress and model Han So-hee in Korea – and the Walk of No Shame collection, which includes red bean-coloured lipsticks.
To commemorate the opening of the Charlotte Tilbury store, Lotte Duty Free is presenting a Charlotte Tilbury pouch and a deluxe three-piece kit on a first-come, first-served basis to customers who spend over US$150 on the brand at the Myeong-dong.
Lotte Duty Free noted that it is strengthening its overseas cosmetics range, having added several international beauty brands this year. In April, it opened the Swiss luxury beauty brand Valmont for the first time in the Asian duty free channel. In June it introduced Tatcha, marking the global duty free debut for the Japanese-inspired, Unilever-owned brand.
Lee Seung-guk, Head of Lotte Duty Free’s Product Division, said that the company believes demand for colour cosmetics will increase sharply during the ‘live with COVID’ phase in Korea.
